THe chairman of the caretaker committee
of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator
Ahmed Makarfi has inisisted that the
forthcoming convention of the party would
produce leaders for the party that would be
elected and not anointed by some forces.
Inaugurating an 88 man committee on the
zoning of the party's position in Abuja
Friday, Senator Makarfi said the era of
limiting the party's position to few
individuals was over as the party would
print as many forms as aspirants are ready
to show interest.
"It is not going to be anointing, it is going
to be an election. So we are not printing
only one form for each office. And the
committee has seven days to submit its
report," Makarfi said.
"It doesn't make sense at all for the
chairman ship of the party and the
Presidency is zoned to the North. In party
politics all sections should have a fair
representation. That was why the entire
zoning arrangement was jettisoned" he
explained.
Makarfi explained that with the quality of
personnel in the committee "Whatever
decision you make will be widely accepted
by all. I do not see you coming up with
recommendation that would be quarried.
Open the political landscape and not
restricting the chairmanship of the party to
one corner."
